The use of the tense:
Actions that started and ended in the past e.g. We visited Disneyland yesterday. Repeated actions in the past e.g. My mum and dad picked me up from school in the old days.
The form of the tense:
- We make positive and negative sentences with was/were (be) as below:

- With most other verbs, we make positive and negative past sentences like this:
