- With most other verbs, we make positive and negative sentences as below:

- We usually add -s to the verb after he, she and it (third person singular):

| Verbs ending in –s, -ch, -sh, -x and -z | +es | dress → dresses catch → catches |
| Verbs ending in vowel (-ay, -ey, -oy, -uy) +y | +s | say → says play → plays |
| Verbs ending in consonant +y | -y +ies | carry → carries cry → cries |
